The Paper Journey Press, an Independent press located in Wake Forest, North Carolina, has published award-winning writers for more than a decade. We publish off-beat short stories, novellas, poetry and memoir from award-winning writers from around the world. Heck, we’ve even published a cook book—a quirky one, of course.
We take chances on new writers and new literary forms. The Paper Journey trail-blazed the short story genre “flash fiction.” In fact, Women Behaving Badly, Feisty Flash Fiction Stories was featured in an article in the 2005 Novel and Short Story market as one of the “go-to” books for those just beginning to experiment in this sub-genre of the short story. At the time, Women Behaving Badly was a stunning accomplishment, showcasing the talents of writers from around the world.
“We’ve had some outstanding successes,” said Wanda Mukherjee, Managing Editor. “One of our best sellers has been Twenty Four Names for Mother, a collection of poetry by Canadian writer Pam Calabrese MacLean.”
The editors at the Paper Journey have a keen interest in art, melding the works of aspiring and established artists with the novels, poetry, and memoir we publish. It is a rarity for the press to produce a photo-shopped cover. However, the heart of the Paper Journey Press is the short story.
